Assemblywoman Lupardo Announces Two Grants for the Broome County Humane Society
Will fund needed equipment purchases to support their operations
Binghamton, NY – Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo was joined by the Executive Director of the Broome County Humane Society to announce that she had secured two state grants totaling $90K to support their operations.
A $50K grant secured in last year’s 2024-25 budget funded the purchase of medical supplies, three new washers and dryers, laptops, iPads, and outdoor turf for the dogs. An additional $40K was secured in this year’s 2025-26 budget that will pay for further improvements, including the purchase of video cameras and upgrades to the veterinary area.
Serving over 5,200 community pets and rescuing a combined 1,431 cats and dogs in 2024, these types of funds help make needed equipment purchases to support their important mission.
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo said “I am very appreciative of the work the Broome County Humane Society does year-round to care for animals awaiting their forever homes. I’ve adopted many rescue cats from shelters over the years and know how dedicated and hardworking their staff are. I’m very happy that I could help them with these much-needed grants.”
Karen Matson, Executive Director, Broome County Humane Society, said, “We are deeply grateful and honored to receive the support of Assemblywoman Lupardo. Our team works tirelessly to ensure the well-being of every animal in our care, and grants like this are critical in helping us continue this important work.”
