Lupardo kicks-off "Elder-Friendly" First Friday
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo (D-Endwell) and members of the Gorgeous Washington Street Association, today announced details about a special event, "Early Bird First Friday." Assemblywoman Lupardo stated, "In my efforts to keep our community an Elder-Friendly community, I am pleased that the members of the art community and the owners of local restaurants are supporting this event for seniors and others. Our hope is that offering the opportunity to enjoy the First Friday Art Walk at an earlier time in the day will allow people to participate who otherwise would avoid the crowds of the later art walk."
The event will take place on Friday, June 2nd from 4-6 pm. Handicapped accessible galleries and restaurants will be identified with a special "Early Bird" poster in their window and on the art walk pamphlet.
Lupardo and the Gorgeous Washington Street Association worked with Broome County Transit to provide transportation on the trolley and with the City of Binghamton, which will provide park benches for resting along the walk.
Others joining Lupardo at the news conference include Art Smith, Vice President, Binghamton Community Relations at Partners Trust Bank, and Sherry Eaton, President of the Gorgeous Washington Street Association. GWSA’s will recognize Partners Trust Bank as the first corporate sponsor of First Friday. Partners Trust Bank is underwriting corporate sponsorship of the June 2nd First Friday Gallery Night.
