Lupardo Secures Funding for Vestal Improvements

More than a quarter of a million dollars invested

Vestal, NY – Vestal’s public safety, infrastructure, and recreation are all receiving a boost as a result of recent funding secured by Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo. $275 thousand in Assembly grants secured by Lupardo supported a number of different projects throughout the town.

“These projects help keep residents safer and improve the quality of life for everyone living in and visiting Vestal,” Lupardo said. “Our local municipalities often want to get these types of things done for their residents, but don’t always have the budget resources to do them. I’m glad I was able to secure this grant funding to help Vestal complete these improvements.”

The funding was used for five separate improvements in Vestal including two new four-wheel drive vehicles for the Vestal Police Department, improvements at Vestal Fire Department’s Station Three, the resurfacing of roadways and parking lot at Arnold Park, and new fencing at two of the town’s baseball fields. Construction on the fifth project, a new pavilion at Arnold Park, is scheduled to begin soon. The grant was secured through the Assembly State and Municipal Facilities (SAM) program and projects were proposed by Vestal Town Supervisor John Schaffer.

“We’re always looking at ways we can make improvements throughout the town,” Schaffer said. “But it’s a challenge to do everything we want to while also keeping spending in check. We appreciate Assemblywoman Lupardo securing this funding that allowed us to enhance our town without passing the cost along to our taxpayers.”
