Brabenec Applauds Passage of New Assembly District Maps

Assembly Minority Whip Karl Brabenec (R,C-Deerpark) is commending the Independent Redistricting Commission (IDC) for successfully drawing new Assembly district lines that are fair and not gerrymandered as in years past. The current set of Assembly maps, that were adopted in 2022, were thrown out by the courts due to a successful lawsuit that was initiated last year. The courts also ordered that the IDC redraw Assembly district lines and that those new maps be in place for the 2024 election. Brabenec wants to give credit where it’s due.

“The new Assembly lines were drawn fairly, constitutional procedure was followed correctly, and this proposal even corrected some of the negative aspects that were encountered in the 2022 maps," said Brabenec. "I'm so proud to represent the current 98th Assembly District and I'm delighted that the new 98th District will remain mostly intact."
