Brabenec Pens Letter To Assemblyman Hikind

Hikind characterized anti-annexation movement as “anti-Hasidic Jew”

In response to Assemblyman Dov Hikind’s assertion that those opposed to the Kiryas Joel Annexation are “anti-Hasidic Jew,” Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark) sent a scathing missive in response to Hikind’s untrue, ill-conceived remarks. Brabenec, who, unlike Hikind, actually represents the district where Kiryas Joel (KJ) is located, responded to his colleague’s base accusations with the legitimate reasons why residents in Monroe are opposed to the annexation

“The name-calling and acrimonious remarks of Assemblyman Hikind are not conducive to real problem solving,” said Brabenec. “The Kiryas Joel Annexation is not an anti-Semitic response; it’s a response to KJ’s rapid growth, and the cloak of secrecy they use to conduct their business. Rather than fan the flames, Mr. Hikind should be helping reach an amicable resolution. To not do so is shameful, which is why I sent him a letter explaining the facts of the matter and excoriating him for his reprehensible remarks.”
