Majority Leaves Middle-Class Out Of Budget

A Statement from Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark)

“The Assembly Majority’ budget wish list was revealed today, and it reinforces the tax-and-spend mentality that has been rampant in Albany for decades. Although it would end the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA) and includes the Veterans Buy-Back Bill, which the Assembly Minority has been pushing for years, it leaves middle-class families out. Some of the misguided proposals by the Assembly Majority include:

  • Free College tuition for illegal aliens
  • Creating more welfare loopholes
  • 50% cut in local agriculture assistance
  • Free cadillac healthcare and insurance plans for illegal aliens
  • No unfunded mandate relief
  • $5.6 billion tax increase

“Furthermore, the Assembly Majority does not intend to make any changes to the disastrous Common Core Standards or improve New York’s embarrassing small-business climate. The Black Dirt Region of my district is paramount, and the New York City politician’s plan to cut Agriculture Local Assistance would be devastating. I’m not going to stop fighting until we get a budget for the men and women who go to work each day.”
