Statement from Assemblyman Karl Brabenec on Start of 2020 Legislative Session

Assemblyman Karl Brabenec (R,C,I-Deerpark) issued the following statement regarding the start of the 2020 Legislative Session

“Majority politicians proved last year that their primary focus is coddling criminals, illegals and socialist policies – a frightening agenda that threatens public safety across our state.

“We are already seeing the disturbing effects of so-called ‘criminal justice reforms’ as serial burglars, career felons and those accused of manslaughter are being released just as quick as they are arrested. Majority politicians are solely responsible for this mayhem and chaos and priority number one should be passing my bill to repeal these dangerous laws before anyone else is hurt.

“We are facing a $6 billion deficit thanks to bloated welfare spending and unnecessary government bureaucracy by Majority politicians in charge of our state. I will stand guard against proposed tax increases and shameless cash grabs which will undoubtedly be used as a band-aid for our state’s reckless spending habits.

“My focus this year remains on reforming our regressive property tax system, protecting our first responders, cutting taxes and spending and giving a voice to the law-abiding middle class first, rather than illegals and criminals.”
