Assemblyman Chang Voices Community Concerns Over Proposed Homeless Shelter in Boro Park
Assemblyman Lester Chang (R,C-Brooklyn) addressed the community’s apprehensions regarding a proposed homeless shelter at 5001 10th Ave. and 1016 50th St. in Boro Park. The facility is expected to accommodate 82 families with children, a development that has created significant concern among local residents.
“The well-being and safety of our community are my top priorities,” stated Chang. “While addressing homelessness is a critical issue, it’s imperative that any proposed solutions align with the needs of our community.”
The proposal, introduced by the Department of Social Services, will be discussed at Community Board 12’s monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Amico Senior Center, located at 5901 13th Ave., 3rd floor. Residents wishing to voice their opinions are encouraged to attend or join via Zoom.
“I urge everyone who is concerned to attend the meeting and express their views. Our collective voice is essential in ensuring any developments reflect the best interests of Boro Park,” said Chang.
