Rozic and Kim Honor Jane Qiu on Her Retirement

Assemblymembers Rozic and Kim Honor Longtime Senior Center Director with Official New York State Assembly Proclamation

Flushing, NY – Assemblymembers Nily Rozic (D, WF-Fresh Meadows) and Ron Kim (D,WF-Flushing) presented Jane Qiu, Selfhelp Program Director, with a proclamation congratulating her on her retirement and twenty-four years of service at Selfhelp Benjamin Rosenthal Senior Center.

“I congratulate Jane Qiu on her well-deserved retirement! In her years of service, Jane has encouraged access to education, the arts, and physical and mental well-being for our elders,” said Assemblywoman Nily Rozic. “Selfhelp Rosenthal flourished under her attentive care, and we congratulate her on a very successful twenty-four years.”

“Jane has been a wonderful and active community member who has given much of her time and energy to improving the lives of older adults,” said Assemblymember Ron Kim. “Her work has helped many of the constituents in both of our districts, and I am proud to join Assemblymember Rozic in honoring Jane with this proclamation.”

As Selfhelp Program Director, Jane helped coordinate wellness calls and home meal delivery programs during the pandemic, facilitated the re-opening of the center in June of 2021, and prioritized hybrid programming to make participation widely accessible while adhering to safety guidelines.
