Rozic, Liu, and Gennaro Host Successful Daffodil Bulb Giveaway and E-Waste Collection Event
Queens, NY – On Sunday, October 27th, Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D, Fresh Meadows), State Senator John Liu (D-Flushing), and Council Member James Gennaro (D-Jamaica Estates) hosted a successful daffodil bulb giveaway and e-waste recycling event at the Israel Center of Conservative Judasim in Fresh Meadows. In partnership with local civic associations including, the West Cunningham Park Civic, Fresh Meadows Homeowners Civic, Flushing Heights Civic, and Utopia Estates Civic, they distributed over 1,000 daffodil bulbs to local residents.
Additionally, the elected officials collaborated with the LES Ecology Center to collect an estimated 3,000 pounds of electronics from 79 households. Electronic waste recycling helps ensure the safe disposal of electronics, reducing hazardous materials in landfills and promoting sustainability.
Thanks to New Yorkers 4 Parks, the Daffodil Project is a part of the citywide effort to beautify local spaces. It is a living memorial to the victims of 9/11 and Covid-19, a celebration of the New Yorkers championing parks equity in their communities, and a catalyst for citywide civic engagement advancing NY4P's call for 1% of the city budget for NYC Parks.
