Assemblywoman Nily Rozic Visits P.S. 390Q’s New Interactive Floor Projector
Rozic allocated $12,275 in state capital funding for interactive learning device at P.S. 390Q The Civic School in Bayside Hills
Queens, NY – Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D,WF-Fresh Meadows) visited students at P.S. 390Q The Civic School in Bayside Hills to see firsthand the interactive floor projector she secured for the school via a $12,275 state grant. The innovative technology combines interactive learning with play and movement by displaying large-scale floor projections onto a motion-sensored floor mat that swiftly responds to touches from hands, feet, and objects. The device offers games in subjects ranging from science to math to language skills for students of all ages and provides easy ways to integrate cognitive and social skills into the classroom curriculum.
“Combining elementary school students’ love of play with the act of learning is one of the most effective ways to educate,” said Assemblywoman Nily Rozic. “Seeing how this new system allows all students, especially those with special needs, to develop their motor skills and learn subjects in a way that feels most natural to them was a true joy to witness. I commend Principal Leib for reaching out to me with this grant request and for continuously finding creative ways to keep students engaged.”
“The CIVIC Team of PS 390Q are thrilled to bring the innovative Lu Interactive Playground system to our school, thanks to the unwavering support of Assemblywoman Nily Rozic,” said P.S.390 Principal Melody Leib. “This cutting-edge technology will inspire learning through play, foster creativity, and promote physical activity for children of all abilities. Assemblywoman Rozic’s commitment to education continues to have a lasting impact on our community, and we are proud to partner with her in creating a brighter future for our leaders."
P.S. 390 is located on 56th Avenue and 214th street in Bayside Hills and offers classes from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5. Additional community investments recently announced by Rozic include two $250,000 grants for Flushing schools P.S.24 and P.S.120 for auditorium upgrades and a new security system, respectively, as well as a $50,000 community program grant to Asian Americans for Equality, also in Flushing.
