Welcome Letter

Dear Friends:

Welcome to my NY State Assembly website. This is the place to stay informed about my activities and I hope you will come back regularly for news about my work on behalf of the people of the 30th Assembly District.

I have just issued a report about recent activities in the Assembly and some of our accomplishments during the recent legislative session. Click HERE to see a copy of the report.

Now in my ninth term as your representative in Albany, I have worked hard throughout my service to increase funding for education, health care and seniors and enact legislation to benefit workers, consumers and those in urgent need. I am proud to have also secured millions of dollars in funding for non-profit community organizations that provide vital services to our neighbors and for important Queens cultural institutions.

As a senior member of the Assembly leadership, serving on the Ways and Means and Rules Committees, I also have the honor to Chair the Assembly Committee on Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development. Tourism is one of the most important sectors of the state and local economy, accounting for $100 billion in economic activity in the most recent year. This means new jobs, community improvements and extra benefits to the quality of life for all New Yorkers.

Last year, we announced that the tourism and hospitality industry in New York State provided more than $100 billion in economic impact on the economy of New York State. That means new jobs and benefits for every part of the state, but particularly in New York City and Queens.

As always, I welcome you to contact my office for my help with a community problem or issue.

Sincerely,
Margaret M. Markey
Member of Assembly
30th District, Queens
