"Today, we see Juneteenth in every school we open in our neighborhood. It's in every home that we move into. It's in every raise and every promotion. Juneteenth is in every business that we establish. …They are manifestations of our hard-fought freedom," said Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte, speaking on the resolution that celebrates Juneteenth, which marks the effective end of slavery in the United States in 1865.
