Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal’s “Brighten Your Block” Portal
Over the past few months, in an ongoing effort to brighten our streetscapes, my office has requested that the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) conduct a series of illumination studies along certain blocks within my West Side Assembly district. Studies routinely show that improving lighting conditions is a relatively inexpensive way to enhance a neighborhood's quality-of-life and to deter crime.
That is why I'm launching the "Brighten Your Block" portal -- if you see an inoperative street lamp or believe your block would benefit from additional lighting, fill out the survey below and my office will send your request to DOT for further follow up. It can take DOT several months to initiate and complete such a study, however, we will keep you updated on the city's progress.
Improving the West Side's quality-of-life is a block-by-block effort, but every action has the potential to improve our neighborhood. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my Assembly district at 212-873-6368 or at rosenthall@nyassembly.gov.
