We Cannot Fail Our Struggling School Districts
January 21, 2014
“In today’s address the governor outlined his plan for education spending for 2014. It is imperative that we do not forget that while increases in education aid are needed, it is the distribution that is most important. We need to take into account that education aid is mal-distributed. State aid pales in comparison to property tax revenue and districts with low property tax revenue streams, such as Schenectady, do not receive their fair share. Our children deserve the best teachers and tools available to help them succeed. That means directing more aid to the districts that need it most.”
