"I think that these peer mediation programs out in the street work, and I think I would like to see more of that happening throughout New York City... The epidemic is getting worse, it's horrible," said Assemblywoman Maritza Davila to Robert Kent, General Counsel to the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, at a public hearing held by the Assembly Standing Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse to examine the adequacy of funding for prevention, treatment and recovery services within the State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2017-2018 Enacted Budget.
